Adam Pultz Melbye – The Autopoeitic Double Bass

The Autopoeitic Double Bass is a research project aimed at developing a self-organising sonic ecosystem comprised of performer, feedback double bass and lights. By routing contact pickups to contact exciters attached to the double bass, the instrument becomes a speaker membrane that amplifies its own signal. Consequently, a complex feedback loop is created that the player can interact with by placing their hands on the instrument, thereby altering its resonant properties. Additionally, volume and processing parameters in the signal chain is controlled by machine listening algorithms that lends a certain autonomy to the system.

The ADB is a complex system that exhibits semi-chaotic behaviour. The player is advised to relinquish ambitions for total musical control and instead focus on immediacy and bodily intuition in the interplay with this vibrant object.

Vibrating air, a trumpet, a microphone, a loudspeaker are the only devices with which Timothée Quost will bring you in a delirious musical world. Articulating a language made up of breaths, impulses, feedbacks, noises, this young sound explorer will let you get lost in his sonic daedalus.

Solborg har samlet en unik gruppe af et af hans favorit instrumenter: Klarinetten. Fra top til bund et ekstraordinært familemøde af sorte rør. Improvisation, musikalske bønner, hymner og tætte teksturer er alle ingredienser i aftenens program – der bringer alle sider af disse stærke innovative musikere og deres smukke instrumenter i spil.

Som et særlig Vinterjazz indslag har han inviteret den Portugisiske trompetist og improvisator par excellence Susana Santos Silva til at bidrage til bønnerne.
