Dye is the new duo consisting of Nils Gröndahl on violin and effects and Henrik Pultz Melbye on saxophone, EWI and effects.
Dye is mixing elements from noise and ambient music and creates large sci-fi scenes and chaotic worlds of sounds playing through different guitar effects and loop pedals. The music is based on basic sketches and improvisations allowing the music to feel fresh and new in every performance.
Nils Gröndahl has, besides being part of renowned danish band Under Byen, worked alongside several rock and pop bands. In later years he’s released several solo albums featuring ambient music with inspirations from techno, noise and electronic music.
Henrik Pultz Melbye has been part of the experimental scene of Copenhagen and beyond the last 10 years and has steadily worked with experimental and improvised music. He’s worked intensely with his band SVIN which has released 7 albums and toured most of Europe while also releasing several albums in his own name, including two solo albums.
Christan Rønn – synthesizer, samples og elektronik
Værket Dark Night of Humanity for renstemt synthesizer, samples og elektronik, tager udgangspunkt i den verdensberømte fysiker Stephen Hawkings dommedagsprofetier fra tiden umiddelbart før hans død. Hawkings ekstremt dystre fremtidsudsigter giver kun menneskeheden ca. 100 år at overleve i på jorden, og det er denne dommedagstemning som komponist Christian Rønn iscenesætter med elektronik og visuals.
Musikken tager udgangspunkt i en skala udviklet af den amerikanske minimalist La Monte Young og vil indhylle publikum i en gigantisk sky af rytmiske forskydninger og glaciale klange.
Christian Rønn spiller tangent-instrumenter og elektronik i adskillige sammenhænge, som solist og i grupper, og er som tangent-spiller blevet sammenlignet med bl.a. Sun Ra, Keith Jarret og Cecil Taylor. Spiller pt med Bleeder, Panser, Blind Mans Band, Kosmik Klok, Troln. Tidligere samarbejder inkluderer Ikue Mori, Peter Peter m.fl. Han står også bag det populære electronica-act Ganga og har skrevet film-musik til klassikere som “Battleship Potemkin”, Metropolis” og “Man with a Movie Camera.

The work Dark Night of Humanity for pure-voiced synthesizer, samples and electronics takes its point of departure from the world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking’s doomsday prophecies from the time immediately before his death. Hawking’s extremely gloomy future prospects only give humanity approx. 100 years to survive on earth, and it is this doomsday atmosphere that composer Christian Rønn stages with electronics and visuals by Björn Ross.
The music is based on a scale developed by the American minimalist La Monte Young and will envelop the audience in a giant cloud of rhythmic displacements and glacial timbra.
