Tango ekseks-i
Tango ekseks-i is a series of concerts exploring tango music in a contemporary context. Not driven by specific aesthetics but the wish for creating new forms of musical expression with its Ursprung in the music of the Rio de La Plata-area in Argentina.
This night will be music from the norwegian duo Julie & Andreas, the local ensemble Erhværv, and completely new music written for an ensemble – Ensemble ekseks-i, that will join the forces of Julie & Andreas and Erhværv.
Julie & Andreas is the odd combination of a harp and a bandoneon. Exploring a traditional repertoire of tango, the music of Astor Piazzolla, as well as folkloric sensibilities of norwegian and northwestern european folkmusic, they combine all these with incredible virtuosity and an open mind.
Julie & Andreas is:
Julie Rokseth – Harp
Andreas Rokseth – Bandoenon
Erhværv is the local heroes of the Copenhagen avant-tango scene. A potent mix of the music and legacy of Astor Piazzolla, Horacio Salgan and other tango nuevo pioneers with the exploratory curiosity of western european contemporary music.
Erhværv is:
Anders Skibsted – Bandoneon
Anna Sakham Jalving – Violin
Nicole Hogstrand – Cello
Frederik Sakham Jalving Lomborg – Double bass
Søren Gemmer – Piano
Ensemble ekseks-i is Erhværv and Julie & Andreas combined, playing completely new music, written by the composer and bandoneonist of Erhværv, Anders Skibsted.
Somewhere between an orquesta tipica (the tipical orchestra of the golden age of tango) and a chamber ensemble they play music drawing heavily on the grand legacies of both formats and creates a music that is both tango and contemporary music at the same time.
Ensemble ekseks-i is:
Julie Rokseth – Harp
Andreas Rokseth – Bandoenon
Anders Skibsted – Bandoneon
Anna Sakham Jalving – Violin
Nicole Hogstrand – Cello
Frederik Sakham Jalving Lomborg – Double bass
Søren Gemmer – Piano
Kristian Flagstad – Clarinets
