Karin Johansson is a pianist and composer, working within a wide spectrum of improvisation, free jazz, and contemporary music. She often works with alternative techniques and prepared piano. Active both in Sweden and internationally. She plays with groups such as ORD, Quagmire (Nina de Heney / Karin Johansson / Henrik Wartel + Christer Bothén), Lisen Rylander Löve / Karin Johansson duo, Paul Jarret / Karin Johansson / Donovan von Martens, Finn Loxbo / Karin Johansson duo, and in many other collaborations also internationally. She also composes stage music for theatre and dance. Karin is based in Gothenburg but was born and raised in Malmö. She studied at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg.
Mattias Risberg is a pianist and composer who often works with the blend of improvisation and composition. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and is active in Sweden and internationally. Risberg leads, among other things, his ensemble Mining, for which he composes all the music and lyrics. The band has released four albums that have received excellent reviews in Sweden and abroad. Mattias has also released two solo piano albums and regularly collaborates with musicians from the jazz/impro scene, such as Fredrik Ljungkvist, David Stackenäs, Eva Lindal, Stina Hellberg Agback, Jon Fält, among others.
Mass of Debris is a Copenhagen-based quartet consisting of three electric guitars and saxophone, collectively meandering through drony, noisy, microtonal and ambient soundscapes, permeated by improvised interaction that is (more or less) meticulously weaved into the compositional design. They released their debut album entitled Unspoken Remains in July 2025, available on Bandcamp and vinyl.
