Qarin Wikström is a swedish vocalist/electronic musician and composer, working with open improvisation and sound experiments. With manipulated voice, hard ware electronics and keys, she’s building dystopian and playful sonic landscapes of tactility, timbre and texture, where the poetic and absurd are soul mates. In solo format, she is currently focussing on sound poems: bending and blurring the line between word and sound, creating a space of sense/non-sensical sound language, letter play and sonic words.
ENGELTHOMSEN plays free improvisation with an avant-garde starting point. After a long series of concerts, they have built up a deep understanding of momentum and sound processing in a spontaneously unfolding music. Their music is entirely acoustic, but with the help of a wide range of creative modifications of double bass, saxophone, trumpet, etc., they improvise their way to an innovative music that, in its often extreme expression, is reminiscent of harsh electronic noise music. Besides their work as a duo, they have collaborated in several projects such as Our Hearts as Thieves (with poet/pianist Eliot Cardunaux (USA) and percussionist Etienne Nillesen (NL)), the improv trio ‘Ø’ (with guitarist Andrea Bazzicalupo (IT)) and post -jazz quartet Autolysis.
Organised in collaboration with KoncertKirken.
