Mark Solborg (guitar) solo
————————–
With 18 releases (in 16 years) as leader or co-leader and performances at leading European jazz festivals, Mark Solborg has established himself with clear defined imprints on the Danish and international jazz and improv scenes. His collaborators include Evan Parker, Herb Robertson, Mats Eilertsen, Chris Speed, Hank Roberts, Paal Nilssen-Love, Francesco Bigoni, Emanuele Maniscalco, Marc Lohr, Lotte Anker, Axel Dörner, Ingar Zach, Lars Andreas Haug, Simon Toldam, and many others. Mark’s work as composer and guitarist has been Grammy nominated, Reumert awarded, premiered by Statens Kunstfond (Danish Arts Agency)
and the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and has recieved substantial international recognition. Here he will perform with his new solo project. It’s very rare to hear him solo – don’t miss!
Maria Laurette Friis + Nacho Córdoba (electronics) duo (DK/ESP)
————————–
Maria Laurette Friis is a composer, improviser, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. She might be best known for her critically acclaimed band Tys Tys, but since 2006 she has been mostly focusing on her solo performances and the enigmatic Fritz Fontana Ensemble she’s a leader of. A truly strong and highly individual take on music, and quite a hidden gem, since it is not so easy to spot Maria Laurette live in Denmark.
Nacho Córdoba on the other hand is a Spaniard who has fortunately just moved to Denmark. For the past few years he has been mostly involved in the noise scene touring constantly all over the world. Lately he has been performing using a scientific rather than musical instrument, an odd oscillator machine that is most commonly used for checking the reverberance of wood and sewer cleaning…
This will be the first ever performance of these two originals, how could you miss it?!
Maria Faust (alto saxophone) solo (EST)
————————–
Maria Faust is an Estonian saxophone player and composer based in Copenhagen. She is best known in the fields of third stream jazz, modern big band music, improvised music, and other alternative genres. She is a member and co-founder of the record label Barefoot Records and the Northern European musical collective New Nordic Sounds.
In 2014, Maria was nominated for and awarded Danish Music Awards (DMAs) in two categories – “Jazz Composer of the Year” and “Crossover Record of the Year” – for her most recent release, Maria Faust Sacrum Facere (Barefoot Records, 2014). In 2013, Maria was also nominated as “Composer of the Year” both at the DMAs and the Estonian Music Awards, for her album Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe (Barefoot Records, 2013).
She is also actively performing solo and that is exactly what we are getting here! What a night it will be…
