“JEWISH VOICES”
Equinox Chamber Music Festival presents “JEWISH VOICES,” our final concert of the season.
The evening’s programme delves into a world of lesser-known composers of Jewish heritage, including works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
The concert includes works by the contemporary composers Osvaldo Golijov, Paul Schoenfield and Yehudi Wyner, as well the largely neglected early-20th century composer Erwin Schulhoff. Ernest Bloch’s thrilling masterpiece Piano Quintet no. 1 brings the concert to a dramatic finish.
The evening also includes two world-premiere dance pieces, “Lullaby & Doina” by dancer-choreographer Elenora Morris and “Achat Sha’alti” by dancer-choreographer Mathieu Rouaux. The dance works are commissioned as part of Equinox Festival’s Choreographic Laboratory, where dance artists collaborate with musicians in a cross-disciplinary creative process.
Stay with us after the concert (around 21:30) for a festival afterparty! There will be an open bar and open stage, where festival musicians can play informal sets of Klezmer and folk tunes. See you on the dance floor!
