Lotz Trio
Lotz Trio (since 2005) performs on replicas of basset horns made originally by a phenomenal instrument maker Theodor Lotz from Pressburg and Vienna. The ensemble endeavours to follow up with popular wind harmonias from the 18th century.
The repertory of the Lotz Trio ensemble is formed by original music called by a German name Harmoniemusik. It is presented predominantly by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s music, nevertheless, the ensemble performs also music by other Central-European composers Georg Druschetzky, Martín I Soler, Anton Stadler, Vojtech Nudera, Johann Josef Rösler and Anton Wolanek.
An attractive part of the repertory of the ensemble is formed by period arrangements of selected numbers from Mozart’s and Salieri’s operas Magic Flute, Figaro’s Wedding, Don Giovanni, Palmira, Regina di Persia. On their debut CD (2008) Lotz Trio recorded five new pieces by contemporary Slovak composers Martin Burlas, Marián Lejava, Daniel Matej, Boško Milakovič and Marek Piaček. In 2009 Lotz Trio has issued first complete recording of the Druschetzky’s Divertissement Pour Trois Cors de Bassett.
In the very last recording Mozart Corni di bassetto (2014) Lotz Trio recorded a set of period arrangements from the Mozart’s operas Magic Flute, Figaro Wedding & Don Giovanni as well as the Mozart’s Notturni written for three vocalists and basset horn trio.
While performing traditional repertory, the ensemble is guided by principles of period performing practice. Lotz Trio is a regular performer at European music festivals at home as well as abroad.
