Vibrant Matter / Sophia Mage
In a session between electronic live sound, bodies and several visual layers, the audience witnesses through this sound and light installation a vibrating dream landscape.
On a utopian scene, 4 dancing bodies move to the many different layers and rhythms of light and sound, forming a sculptural mutation between body, material and narrative. In vibrating and colliding movements, bodies become one mass. Connected. In KoncertKirken, in an experimental concert, dance performance, sound and light installation created by Sophia Mage Laura Rathschau og SØS Gunver Ryberg.
Dark matter, light being, touch with eyes, touch with heart, touching parts within parts.
Combined substances, luminous flaring.
Seeing, fading, breathing, living warm.
Seeing, fading, breathing, living warm.
Colliding densities, omni lash, full size, full growth.
Lunar liquids, deep resonance, deep and far.
Lunar liquids, deep resonance, deep and far.

Sophia Mage (US/DK) is a performer, choreographer and teacher based in Copenhagen and California. In her work she questions what are the possible and impossible meanings that a body can manifest, and how is transformation generated within the framework of performance. She works with the dichotomy of intimacy and alienation, in an attempt to unfold the complexity of a simultaneously singular being and an integrated universal body.
After receiving a BA in Political Science and working several years in an NGO in Oakland California, she moved to Europe to study at the Danish National School of Performing arts. Since graduating she has created several solo and group works, as well as performed in the works of other choreographers.
