The Philipp Eden Trio with Xaver Rüegg on double bass and Vincent Glanzmann on drums plays a contemporary music with a lot of sense four sonic and formal aesthetics. In their sound, which appears both simple and energetic, the three musicians blend influences ranging from Classical and New Music to Avantgarde and Hip Hop. In a natural way the trio follows the paths of greats like Paul Bley and Craig Taborn, to express their own musical perspective – always with the interplay between the musicians in the foreground. The pieces, which can be at times rhythmical, at times minimalistic with a sense for space, merely serve a vehicles for their musical conversation. (Berni Doessegger)
