Johanna Borchert & Johannes Haase (DE/DK)
Johannes Haase (violin)
Johanna Borchert (piano)
An Evening with pianist, singer and composer Johanna Borchert.
Johanna Borchert has recently returned to the Copenhagen scene after 8 years in Berlin, her place of origin. Loved by audiences as a deeply original and complex performer in such (now legendary) bands as Little Red Suitcase and Schneeweiss & Rosenrot, she has since then added prizewinning singersongwriter to her list of merits. She has worked with Fred Frith, Shahzad Ismaily, Peter Bruun, Jonas Westergaard, Elena Setien and Chris Brown.
In 2014 She launched a career as an alternative pop singer, releasing “Fm Biography” and won the prestigious ECHO award for it. In 2017 “Love or Emptiness” came out, causing critics to compare her with Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush and Björk.
Jazzpodium wrote: “Maybe David Lynch would produce one more series. Someone should give her this record”.
She has also made a beautiful solo keyboard album called “Orchestra Ideal” and arranged a whole evening with her music for the symphonic orchestra in Jena.
For this special evening Johanna Borchert has decided to present two new, exciting Duo collaborations together with Johannes Haase (violin) and Lars Greve (sax).
The collaboration with Johannes Haase takes offset in Ligeti, Berio, Cage, Messiaen, Bach … The Duo worked itself through a bunch of classical music in order to extend their language, use compositional backgrounds for improvisations and find new ways to play their instruments. You won’t hear the masters themselves but their voice through the brains of two young improvisers.
Johannes Haase is an outstanding master on the violin who studied both classical music in Bremen as well as Jazz and improvised music in Basel with Fred Frith. He is active both on classical concert stages as well as in different crossover and avandgarde constellations. www.johanneshaase.com
