Abhijit Banerjee – Tabla
Partho Bose is a widely acknowledged Sitar player and a much respected artiste in the arena of contemporary Hindustani Classical Music. He has received overwhelming appreciation from connoisseurs and critics of Hindustani classical music in India and abroad over two decades now.
He has been a distinguished performer on radio and television and was invited by the Government of India to lead a cultural delegation to African countries on the historic occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of India’s Independence.
His concert tours to the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, Middle East & Bangladesh have featured him in major international festivals as well as reputed Universities: in performances, workshops, lecture-demonstrations and teaching sessions.
The Australian Capital Territory Government invited him as the only Indian Classical Musician in the National Multicultural Festival in Canberra in February, 2009 – an internationally reputed festival graced by leading cultural ambassadors of more than 80 countries.
Abhijit Banerjee is considered among the front ranking tabla players from India, one of the most sought after creative artists in the realm of Indian classical music. He has crafted a unique style and creative approach which has brought him accolades and awards from all over the world for his sensitivity, skill and deep sense of musicality.
Apart from his contributions to Indian music he has left his mark in a diverse field of crossover music both as a performer and composer.
He has established himself as major solo tabla player and has performed in major festivals in India. Abhijit has toured extensively in USA, Canada, U.K., Europe, Japan, Australia, South Africa, South East Asia and Mexico.
Abhijit has collaborated in the world crossover music. CD released with Ry Cooder (Water Lily Acoustics). Larry Coryell. He has participated in Womad Festival with Trilok Gurtu. His other main CDs include TARANG (Tim, Germany), Hollow Bamboo (water lily acoustics), Teentaal (Peshkar, Germany) and True rhythms of India (BMG CRESCENDO).
