–> 5 improvisers in a new meeting the 3rd of July at KoncertKirken! Mia Dyberg meets Berlin-based bassclarinetist Wojtek Bajda[PL] (Xing). 3 More improvisers TBA..!
Improviser Summit rose from a joined vision of building a bridge between the German and Danish jazz/improvised music-scene, by creating and opening relations between improvising musicians worldwide.
OPEN AIR – Free entrance!
Mia Dyberg[DK/SE] is the brain behind the project and is a freelance improviser, saxophonist, composer, co-founder and project leader also in ‘The Community’. She is one of the new exciting voices on the European jazz scene.
The project consists of 3 parts:
–> The first part is: ‘A yearlong concert series’! Because of Dyberg’s residency in Berlin, where she collects inspiration from international artists on a daily basis, she will invite Berlin-based artists to play in Copenhagen and Danish musicians to play in Berlin during April 2016 and April 17.
–>The second part is two concerts the 3rd and 7th of July in KoncertKirken’s courtyard during Copenhagen Jazz Festival = ‘The Community Presents: Improvisor Summit’
–>The third part of the project will consist of an ‘Improviser Summit Week’ in Berlin [spring 2017]. An inspiration week to connect and expand relations between German and Danish improvising musicians, but also musicians worldwide – by using interaction as the driving force.
Line up:
Wojtek Bajda bassclarinet, clarinet
Mia Dyberg: Alto saxophone, objects
TBA 3 Berlin/Copenhagen Improvisers
Mia Dyberg currently lives in Berlin and the last couple of years she has made roots on the international scene, performing with improv-musicians such as Clayton Thomas [AU], Christian Balvig, Kamilla Kovacs, Kasper Tom, Tobias Delius, Herb Robertson[US], Niklas Barnö [SE] Oscar Noriega[US] and Michael Evans[US] etc. She grew up in the swedish archipelago and her both wild and impressionistic music is often affected by the grand swedish nature. But there is also a pulse of the city. Her unique melodic expression emerges from wild sound experiments combined with scandinavian melancholy.
‘Both Dyberg and Robertson utilized a range of ancillary sound-making devices and techniques, stretching into AACM -inspired passages of deep conversation, playful chatter and bluesy storytelling’ —Clifford Allen, New York City Jazz Record

Clayton Thomas[AU], Mia Dyberg/Szymon Pimpon[PL] feat. Tobias Delius[DE/NL] bl.a. Tyskland, Polen og Egypten. Mia optræder også i forskellige ad hoc projekter bl.a. i New York og Stockholm med musikere som Herb Robertson[US], Niklas Barnö [SE] Oscar Noriega[US] og Michael Evans[US].
