Bach, Telemann and Handel: Close Encounters
Musicians have been meeting across borders for hundreds of years. Two of the Baroque’s musical giants, J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were linked together by their mutual friend G.P. Telemann, whose 250 year legacy we celebrate in 2017. Although they lived in different countries and only met on a few occasions, Handel and Telemann maintained a life-long friendship through letters, music and even exchanging plants!
Like the musicians of today, these composers shared ideas and influences through their music and personal meetings. Join us as we contemplate what a musical encounter between these three composers might have sounded like. Four musicians from France, Germany, Sweden and Canada are brought together by the same spirit of kinship that has connected musicians for centuries.
