The Community presents an evening with improvisors from Valdivia (Chile) and Copenhagen meeting in a collective performance.
If we were to investigate how climate and geography contribute to shape musical expressions, this would be an interesting case study: On the edges and towards the south of Chile, we find Valdivia, a small city of 170,000 inhabitants that hosts a vibrant scene – on a small scale – related to the fields of free improvisation, contemporary music and electroacoustic music. The southern air seems to influence those performers who sculpt their sounds with genuine patience and sensitivity. Witness to these sounds have been the numerous versions of the Relincha Festival that articulates the city around experimental music.

Michaela Turcerová (SVK) is saxophone player, composer and improviser from Slovakia. Her work is centered around mysteries of liberated soundscapes within reduced shapes and vivid motion. Ginte Preisaite (LTU). Lithuanian pianist /composer/ songwriter at the moment residing at Copenhagen (RMC) and exploring the local scene by playing and creating with various experimental/jazz/contemporary artists. Currently she is working with fellow colleagues from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory: drummer Jēkabs Rēders and with her trio members, drummer Simon Forchhammer and saxophone player Michaela Turcerova in trio and other constellations.
